Hi, I’m Evgeniya (Yael), a homeschool educator, tutor, and parent based in Toronto, Ontario.
I help families navigate homeschooling in Ontario, support children with diverse learning needs, and provide personalized online tutoring for students in Grades 1–8.
Whether you are just getting started with homeschooling, supporting a child with special needs, or looking for structured academic guidance, I’m here to help you build an education that actually works for your child.
I grew up in Russia, where I developed a strong academic foundation in math and analytical thinking. After moving to Canada in 2011, I experienced firsthand what it means to adapt to a new language and education system—an experience that now helps me better support ESL and bilingual families.
I hold a degree in Math and Computer Science and graduated as a straight-A student. Teaching has been part of my life since my own school years, starting as a side activity and eventually becoming a meaningful career.
Over time, I’ve worked with a wide range of students, with a strong focus on ESL, bilingual, and multilingual learners, helping them build confidence and succeed within the Ontario education system.
Our decision to homeschool began with real-life challenges.
My daughter had a difficult start in life, including serious health issues and multiple hospitalizations in her early years. Rehabilitation became part of our daily routine, and it deeply shaped how I approach learning, development, and education.
During this time, I was not only a parent but also a full-time caregiver, which required me to create an approach to education that was flexible, realistic, and responsive to my child’s needs.
Our experience in a specialized daycare setting did not feel like the right fit for our daughter.
We initially enrolled our daughter in public school for Junior Kindergarten, but before the school year began in September 2017, we made the decision to try homeschooling—at first, just for the kindergarten years ☺️
What started as a necessary choice gradually became a long-term lifestyle built around flexibility, an individualized approach, and respect for each child’s pace and needs.
I work with families who are looking for a more personalized and flexible approach to education.
This includes parents homeschooling in Ontario, families with children who have diverse learning needs, ESL and bilingual learners, and students in Grades 1–8 who need extra support in core subjects.
I support families through both homeschooling guidance and personalized online tutoring.
I help parents get started with homeschooling in Ontario, choose the right approach, and adapt learning to their child’s needs. I also provide one-on-one tutoring in math, English, and ESL, focusing on building real understanding and confidence.
Through my blog Our Buzzing Homeschool, I share practical resources, curriculum insights, and real-life strategies to support parents along the way.
For me, education is not just academic.
It’s about helping a child feel capable, understood, and supported.
My experience—as a parent, educator, and someone who has navigated both medical and educational challenges—allows me to see the whole child, not just their grades.
