I grew up in Russia and was a straight-A student all my school years. In the 2000s, I graduated with honours, majoring in math and computer science. After working in IT for several years, I met my husband and moved to Toronto.
But motherhood changed my life more than I ever could have imagined. Our daughter developed serious medical issues at just 11 months old, and we spent an entire year between hospitals. Naturally, I became her full-time caregiver.
Thankfully, by 2016, life had settled a little, and I returned to tutoring — a passion I’ve had since my school years. The following year, we began homeschooling, embracing a flexible, bilingual, and special needs-friendly approach.
In early 2020, during the first months of the pandemic and lockdowns, countless people reached out with urgent questions about learning at home. Many questions repeated, so I began sharing tips and answers on my personal Facebook page. Eventually, started a group and a page, that led to the idea for this blog. I even purchased the domain in the summer of 2020!
But life had different plans. I was able to successfully combine my tech background with my love for teaching and launched my online tutoring practice. It took time to find quality resources and master strategies that work in virtual settings—but it was absolutely worth it.
I’m so proud of my students and their results! ✨
And now, I finally have a bit of spare time to move my blog from Facebook to this site—where I’ll be sharing everything I’ve learned.
